Acorn Cottages - Access Statement

Introduction
This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
The Coach House and the Shippon, collectively known as Acorn Cottages, is in the village of North Rode three miles from Congleton, 6 miles from Macclesfield, 8 miles from Leek and 13 miles from Buxton.

Pre-Arrival

" The nearest bus stop is approximately 400 metres away. The service is the 99 between Congleton and Macclesfield.
" The nearest train station is at Congleton, 4.5 miles away.
" There are various taxis services available.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking Facilities
" We endeavor to be present to meet and greet you when you arrive. The farmhouse is a short distance from the cottages.
" Parking is approximately 6 metres away from the cottage front doors.
" There is a car parking area with enough room for 3 cars.
" The car parking is tarmaced and slopes up to the lytch gate entrance with double entrance gates.

Entrance To The Property
" Both cottages front on to the enclosed courtyard with stone flagged paths with side gravel borders.

 


The Coach House


" Heating is provided to ground and first floors from a gas central heating boiler which provides very comfortable under floor heating. There is an electric fire stored under the stairs should this be necessary, though the heating system is on constant.
" There is an information folder in the cottage.
" Mobile reception is generally good.
" There is wireless internet access.
" Smoking is not allowed in the cottage.

Ground floor
" The stable door entrance opens inwards with a small sill to the threshold.
" The kitchen and bathroom have a stone flagged floor with under floor heating on one level. The lounge has a step out of the kitchen at a height of 22cm.
" The lounge floor is wood effect laminate with under floor heating.
" There is hanging for coats close to the entrance.
" Two double settees and pouf.
" Television cabinet with digital channels. DVD player. Radio and CD player.
" The kitchen dining table has three chairs. Additional folding chairs are under the stairs. This dining table can open out to twice its size.
" Kitchen with base and wall units incorporating single drainer stainless steel sink unit, refrigerator (freezer located in utility 3 metres from the property). Electric hob and oven with drop down door.
First floor
" Pine timber stairs off lounge to first floor.
" Master bedroom with double bed, bedside cabinets and lamps.
" Captain's bedroom with double bed built-in with four steps rising up to its elevated position. Two reading lamps, sofa bed.
" Bathroom with white bathroom suite with pedestal wash basin, low flush WC and having shower over the bath with shower curtain screen.

 


The Shippon


" This cottage is suitable for the less able being on one level with a further double bedroom at first floor.
" Heating is provided to ground and first floors from a gas central heating boiler which provides very comfortable under floor heating. There is solid fuel stove should this be required for extra warmth, though the heating system is on constant.
" There is an information folder in the cottage.
" Mobile reception is generally good.
" There is wireless internet access.
" Smoking is not allowed in the cottage

Ground floor
" Wide glazed entrance door into stone flagged lounge with under floor heating.
" Lounge. Two double sofas, four chairs and drop leaf table. Television cabinet with digital channels and DVD player. Small cast iron wood burning stove.
" Kitchen with base and wall units incorporating single drainer stainless steel sink unit, refrigerator (freezer located in utility 3 metres from the property). Electric hob and oven with drop down door.
" Twin bedroom with two single beds with bedside lamps, chest of draws and free standing wardrobe.
" The bathroom is built as a wet room with shower, wash basin and w.c.
First floor
" Stairs off the lounge to limited height galley bedroom.
" Galley bedroom with limited height including double bed, bedside tables and lamps.


Additional Facilities

Utility
There is a separate utility shared by the two cottages, facilities include:
" Washing machine.
" Freezer.
" Deep Belfast sink for washing wellington boots etc.
" Iron and ironing board.
" Clothes airers.
" Cleaing materials are provided in the cottages and the utility.
" Shower room and toilet.

Bin store
" There is a discreet bin area tucked away to the far left corner from entering the courtyard.
" The large silver/grey bin takes all manner of recyclable material including glass, paper, plastics, cardboard.
" The small black bin takes other non-recyclable waste.
" We have hens and goats on the farm which are friendly and should you have any food scraps they will be pleased to accept any handouts (please do not feed meats).
